Enslaved

He sets a snare

to capture a soul,

he says that he cares

yet has just one goal

He weaves a net

of deceptive lies,

speaks truth in ways

that shackles and ties

He chains the heart

of those who show trust,

manipulates words

of the honest and just

He takes the poor

ones who are in need,

binds them to serve

another man's greed

He does some good

disguising his ways,

respected by peers

and those whom he pays

He buys himself friends

with wealth he has gained,

neglecting the ones

who's lives he has maimed

He searches for peace

with a life that’s unkind,

alone and enslaved

by his own scheming mind
