Sometimes a smile

Sometimes a smile
seems miles away,
we wonder where to begin,
as we walk and talk
throughout the day
not one will crack a grin.

At times the miles
are full of smiles,
on the road we travel on,
a view that's clear
with loved ones near,
our burdens seem all gone.

When times are tough
and the road is rough
one's heart can be so sad,
it just takes a friend
to warmly send
a smile that makes us glad.
