Unanswered

Prayers have been buried 

as tears have run dry 

answers to questions 

are still hard to find 

 

Tears which once flowed

into ponds, streams and seas 

still carry the message 

sent out upon knees 

 

One poured out soul 

reflects on the time 

of sweet communion

which was so divine 

 

He soon stands empty 

faith hope but a thread 

which separates his life

from the land of the dead 

 

Unanswered prayers 

to him they may seem 

have never been heard 

or much less redeemed 

 

Yet.. 

 

Love carries him on 

with a grace so divine 

despite all that's lost 

new purpose he finds 

 

They say a heart broken 

is much easier to share

through the pain and the loss 

grows a compassion to care 

 

What's lost turns to good 

despite the deep pain 

in an act of redemption 

from which much can be gained 

 

So prayers unanswered 

can reap such rewards

hope love and compassion 

from a life so transformed
